TOM HOPKINS - ARCHITECT

 

I am currently a one-person design firm specializing in custom residential design, including remodeling, additions and timber frame design.  I provide personal one-on-one service through the entire design and construction process, with over 30 years of experience in residential design.

 

Prior to my current practice, I was the Architect for Woodhouse, a design and build timber frame company based in Mansfield, PA.  While at Woodhouse for 2 years, I performed various design functions, including original custom designed projects and working with homeowners and architects to adapt their designs for timber frame homes. During this period, Woodhouse developed a new product line named SmartWood, a series of pre-designed and standardized timber frame home packages.  I contributed a majority of the designs in the portfolio.

 

After graduating from the University of Illinois, I began my architectural career with a small home design firm and high end kitchen designer in Rockford, IL.  I worked for two other small design firms until I recieved my Illinois Architect license in 1982, when I started my own firm, Thomas M. Hopkins - Architect, in McHenry, IL.  I maintained my office in McHenry until  2001.  During this time my firm designed over 150 residential projects and 100 commercial and industrial projects in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

 

I am currently licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin.
